149 - Looking forward - 2025
🇹🇠We again had plenty of fireworks all over Bangkok to bring in the new year. V and I enjoyed the view from our terrace. Like last year we did not feel the need to go to one of the countdown spots with enormous crowds - this is one advantage of a high-floor apartment in the center of town! Happy New year and best wishes from us!
The weather has been perfect this year with pleasant fresh mornings around 23 degrees although it is still quite warm at 32-33 in the afternoons.
We have had a busy time. First we had friends visiting from Belgium, so V had planned all sorts of things and we were out and about every day - even in the evening. We had a great time and they have now gone on to Chiang Mai for New Year and Hua Hin on their way home.
And, just like last year, in the last few days V and I both managed to get sick. It started with V getting sinus and then chest infection (bacterial) and since I was caring for her I too came down with man-flu. We were both grounded for 3 days and whilst I hope we are through the worst of it we are still a bit shaky as I write this.
So, what's the plan?
Having done our review of 2024, it seems to have worked out rather well and neither of us feels inclined to change a working combination. So 2025 should look fairly similar to 2024 with a few refinements around family visits.
We will be here in Bangkok till end of March and then back to Palma de Mallorca for the spring with a stop over in Belfast to celebrate my Dad's birthday. We have booked our summer accommodation in Belfast, although the weather there is much less certain. We will then do a sojourn in Belgium (Nieuwpoort and Antwerp) before heading down to Madeira for a month and then back home to SE Asia for the winter.

Book of the week and recommendations
The Alchemist has been in my TBR queue for a while. It is wildly popular worldwide and an international best-seller (more than 65m copies), translated into more than 80 languages. It was Laura's video below that prompted my to get out my copy and read it. It is not a long read (4-5 hours) and I wholeheartedly recommend it to everyone. The book is packed with wisdom and life lessons.
The book tells the mystical story of Santiago, an Andalusian shepherd boy who yearns to travel in search of a worldly treasure. His quest will lead him to riches far different—and far more satisfying—than he ever imagined. Santiago's journey teaches us about the essential wisdom of listening to our hearts, recognising opportunity and learning to read the omens strewn along life's path, and, most importantly, following our dreams.
You will see how following your dream, while important, will not be easy and you should expect to be challenged at every opportunity. Only those who persist go on to live their Personal Legend.

Books that I re-read over Christmas
With time on my hands recovering from man-flu I got to re-read a couple of fabulous books in the last weeks. Firstly Snow Crash is truly remarkable. It was written in 1992 but he invented the term "Metaverse" and his descriptions of daily life and events are so prescient.
I really enjoyed the discussions with the Librarian, starting at Chapter 27. This has all the hallmarks of current-day discussions with ChatGPT, Claude or Perplexity - this should make you think. The discussion on the universal language (pre Tower of Babel) should also give you pause for thought. Hint: read The Alchemist!
Lastly, Charlie's seminal work is required reading. He provides thousand of citations and quotations from politicians and empire bureaucrats (criminals) where they explicitly talk about and even expound the evil of their actions.

Nostr is part of the Parallel Systems that we need to build and use. It provides free and uncensored access to information and an alternative to the empire-controlled corrupt Social Media platforms like X, FB, Instagram etc.
I and many others are doing what we can to nurture, develop and grow this alternative platform and you would do well to give it a go. Among other things I will be looking into how to leverage all the existing content that I now have in my newsletters on Nostr. With three years of weekly updates there is a lot of valuable information and remember that it is all searchable.

A rather good explainer
Those of you who have been following along here for while are probably at least somewhat awake to the way that this empire works. Even so, once in a while I come across a great explainer video that may be useful to share with others - this is one such video.
Watch it yourself and share with others. We have talked before about how these global and nebulous threats are used to keep you in a condition of fear and submission. It really is time to wake up and withdraw your consent.
As in the 1920s in Germany, I feel that many (if not most) will be unwilling and unable to understand what is being done to them but do not be one of those people. In case you are wondering what you can do about it, buying bitcoin and holding it yourself in self-custody (outside the system) is probably the most effective vote that you can give and it may well save your wealth in what is coming.
ICYMI - Yet another reason to hate PayPal
You may, or may not, be aware of the Honey Browser Extension scam. This is likely the largest and most widely impactful such fraud being perpetrated on millions of website users worldwide. Did I forget to mention that it is owned by PayPal and they have been completely silent on this topic since word on it broke over 10 days ago.
The Analogy of the TV salesman is very clear and you should always remember that a product seems to be free, you are the real product.
Shout-out to Markiplier who sniffed this one out in 2020 but nobody listened to him.
BTW - the bottom line on all of this is: if you have the Honey Browser Extension installed, remove it IMMEDIATELY and be more prudent in future.
Neil Explains - in other corruption
Governments are planning additional taxes on flights, apparently with the specific goal to make flights unaffordable. To me this seems a lot like the lunacy of the 1920s and for the same reasons, albeit on a much bigger scale. Watch to the end for views of the Chatuchak Park - yes, Bangkok parks are all like this every day!
Remember - if you do nothing about this, your tacit acceptance is assumed.
The Gods of Finance demand sacrifice

Over the last year or so, I have introduced you to much of Jason's work. You may have wondered if Jason was the only one to expound such things. He is not! Far from it, in fact. What Jason describes is solidly based on research and writings done over centuries.

The Gnostic Creation Story
Before the establishment of the Roman Orthodox church, dating back to the first century AD, the Gnostics were a sect of Christians with a very different set of beliefs from what the new blossoming religion of Christianity would soon become. The Gnostics insisted they were in fact the original Christians and that the Roman church were imposters co-opting and changing their mythology.
Many of the original Church founders like Marcion and Tatian were actually devout Gnostics who would later leave the Orthodoxy claiming the church was “setting up the fraud of historic Christianity.” Watch and listen below and you will be better able to make your own, informed decisions.
