186 - Around the island
🇵🇹 We had a few busy days over the weekend and on Monday with family visiting here in Funchal. We had a great time, first doing a tour around the island by car and then by boat!
We visited all the usual spots down here on the South and West of the island and also up in the NW corner. Cabo de Girao, Camara de Lobos, Ribeira Brava, Ponta do Sol, Sao Vicente and Porto Moniz.
Porto Moniz, on the north coast of Madeira, is famous for dramatic coastal scenery where verdant mountains tumble to the sea. The town’s signature attraction is the Natural Pools (photo above) — volcanic rock basins filled with crystal-clear sea water — offering safe, picturesque bathing and memorable photos. Reminded me of Iceland's Blue Lagoon.
Thought for the week
You have likely noticed that things are certainly taking off on the news front recently. This is all as expected and by design - it is the tool that the Empire uses to keep you in fear and submission. Hopefully you can see this now, if you had not already woken up to this. Knowing this, what can you do about it?
I recommend that you read Einzelgänger's recent substack explainer. He is a most interesting character, living in Netherlands. He produces very high quality content and I had been missing him for some time. He explains how the 24hr newsfeed became overwhelming and he realised that this was driving him and society in a bad direction - he needed and took a break. As Einzelgänger and Rolf explain: if there is something important, you will find out about it soon enough and you do not need to be plugged into the 24hr fear-cycle of mainstream propaganda - indeed it is much better not to be! You will be much happier.
I unplugged from mainstream propaganda back in 2019 when I realised what was happening in HK and how we were all being misled and manipulated. This became ever more apparent and blatant with the Covid Crimes and we are now into the next phase that has been kicking off for some time. The events in US around Charlie Kirk (not to mention things in France, Germany, Ireland and elsewhere in Europe and UK) are clearly orchestrated and attempting to make things boil over.
It is time to opt out and unplug - do not participate in the madness. Better is to discuss with people you trust, follow weekly or monthly trusted sources and to read more books! Do not allow the Empire to distract and discourage you.
Books of the week
This week I read a couple of books and I recommend them both. This quickly developed into a most interesting thread that you can follow below. Quoz is fiction (but likely closer to the truth than you know). I was triggered to get and read Quoz after listening to a super interview of the author, Mel Mattisson, by Marty.
Quoz is set in 2027. The AI revolution has merged with quantum computing to take control of global financial markets. Operated by the mysterious Bank for International Settlements (BIS) based in Basel, Switzerland, the quantum supercomputer known as ICARUS has promised the world a more stable economy, devoid of bank failures and volatile share prices. And it has delivered . . . until now.
The book is inspired by Tower of Basel - the second book I mentioned. This is rather heavier reading but it explains very clearly the blackmail and organised crime that society is suffering.
Published in 2014, Tower of Basel is the first investigative history of the world's most secretive global financial institution. Based on extensive archival research in Switzerland, Britain, and the United States, and in-depth interviews with key decision-makers – including Paul Volcker, the former chairman of the US Federal Reserve; Sir Mervyn King, governor of the Bank of England; and former senior Bank for International Settlements managers and officials – Tower of Basel tells the inside story of the Bank for International Settlements (BIS): the central bankers' own bank.
Two recommended books - get and read them both
If all of that sounds too intense for you then these next two are for you. They are rather well-produced, short and to the point. This first one explains how the world really works and how all of this is enforced by the cartel that is headed by the BIS based in Basel.
And, as some of you may already know, the Vatican Bank in Rome is a major part of the puzzle. Important to know and impossible to unsee.
You might recall that a year ago we discussed "God's Banker" and "The Secret Origin of Vatican Wealth" in quite some detail.

Just one update this week. With emotions running high it is important to keep a cool head and understand what is going on. What are you doing?
Blockchain wars are back
I remember vividly living through the last Blockchain war - when Bitcoiners were fighting about Blocksize in what culminated with a hard fork resulting in BTC and BCH. At the time, everything was immensely confusing and there was a lot of emotion - just like things today. I wrote about this back in my very first Newsletter and again here where I highlighted the definitive book on the subject.
The upcoming update to Bitcoin Core (v30) has all the hallmarks of a State Attack on bitcoin and will likely kick off another Blockchain war. There really is no justification for increasing the OP_RETURN size limit beyond the 80 bytes that has been fine for years. Doing so is indeed likely to have negative and unexpected consequences beyond those that are already foreseeable..
The Empire is well aware that its previous attempts to stop and control Bitcoin have been unsuccessful so far. However with unlimited money that they simply create they are betting on all the horses in the race - in the same way that they fund both sides of every war that they create.
Adam explains rather clearly what is happening and suggests one way that you can push back and opt out of this change.
There is also another way to opt out and you may wish to consider it too/instead.
Bitcoin Core not only changes the maximum size of OP_RETURN but it also changes the default, giving it a totally ridiculous and unjustifiable value. However you can change this back to the current default value of 80. This is by far the simplest way opt out for now. It also gives you time to fully evaluate moving to Knots - or even some other node implementation in future.

Personally I am exploring both options. Knots would seem to be a good option and it does offer the most flexibility in this and other recent contentious areas; one possible downside is its relative newness and weaker change management. Bitcoin Core does seem now to have some compromised actors but it has rather strong change management and so far nothing looks broken.
Since I run multiple nodes, I will be running both flavours and keeping my options open. As always DYOR and make your choices wisely - do not say that nobody told you.
BTW - this is also why you want to hold bitcoin in self custody - this allows you to keep all options open and benefit from any future fork - remember Bitcoin Cash.

I know that some of you were intrigued by my statement that "you should eat of the fruit", recognising how you (and others) have been tricked on something that you really felt certain about.
This week I came across Prof Jiang. He is a real university professor - living and working in Canada. His lectures are superb and you will learn lots. He delivers them with great depth of knowledge and fabulous sense of humour.
This first one might be the best summary of the Bible that you will hear and he clarifies how Judaism and Christianity came about and the links/tensions between them. He then goes on to tell you how the Secret Societies came about (recall Eric's in-depth and comprehensive explainer) and their purpose.
After all that, this next one is extracted from a subsequent lecture in which he takes the big picture perspective and looks realistically at what is likely coming down the pipe.

All of his material is available via his website and you can find his videos on the usual sources. This could be a good one to start with if you want to dive a bit deeper as you likely will once your eyes are opened.
Yet again, the truth is not at all what you have been told and taught.
