209 - Summer already in Bangkok
Motu Bangkok - what fun!`

🇹🇭 Here in Thailand there are three seasons in the year. Officially called Cool Season (November to February), Hot Season (March to May) and Rainy Season (June to October). Locals refer to them as Hot, Very Hot and Hot and Wet. Since 22 February we are now in the Summer (Very Hot season) and it is expected to be hot indeed this year. You can already feel it warming up. Our daily morning swim is rather necessary.

There were two Bitcoin meetups this week - the usual Satoshi Square on Monday and Bob Space Market on Friday. Both were great events with many interesting folks from around the world. Bob Space Market has local people selling all sorts of goods and food for bitcoin. Bob Space also delivers Bitcoin education in Thai language. Needless to say, everyone is excited that Bitcoin is currently on-sale and now is certainly an interesting time to Dollar-Cost Average and acquire more.

I have been quite busy this week with hands-on project work. This includes server updates and reconfiguration as well as some new pieces of Sovereign Computing infrastructure. I'll be sharing details in Project Updates going forward. I also have a couple of books on the go at the moment and you'll be getting reviews of those too shortly.

Apart from that I had a great outing with the group on Saturday exploring Saen Saep canal and the area around Khao San Road. V and I have been out and about exploring some new spots in Bangkok (photos below). Of course we also went to the flower market and this Saturday we will have our Valentine's day dinner, now that the crowds have dissipated.

Long read of the week

I have introduced you before to The Report from Iron Mountain - we discussed it and Albert Pike's letter back in April of 2022. You would do well to go back and refresh your mind on what we covered then - unfortunately most things that I anticipated at that time have panned out pretty much as expected.

This week I came across Peter's excellent review of the document and I suggest that you take time to read it. As always, he includes an 8 minute summary explainer that you can listen to as well or instead. I recommend you do both.

Report From Iron Mountain Explainer

Peter's analysis really does an excellent job, but you cannot quite comprehend the astonishing arrogance with which the committee approaches the subject without reading the text of the report. For example they reassure us that in past “successful” civilisations, human sacrifice has provided an adequate ”substitute for the Functions of War”, but that a transition to peace may not, actually “require this model” - (read it yourself - page 40) .

🛠️ Project Updates

The following are updates from some projects that I am following, supporting and collaborating with. These are all part of the Parallel Systems that we need to build and use. What are you doing?

Alternative App Store

You will be well aware by now that Apple, Google and Micro$oft are making it increasingly difficult and expensive for developers to publish apps via their App stores, while at the same time making it increasingly difficult for users to install apps via any means other than their App stores. This is unethical and as the Empire continues to collapse and Totalitarianism continues to increase expect this behaviour to get even worse but you do have alternatives:

This is GREAT and highly recommended - you have options

@Zapstore is a Nostr-based app store offering a different model from Big Tech App stores. Developers sign their own releases, users verify through social trust, and no passport or government identification is required to publish code. This is a return to the original spirit and promise of the internet.

BTW - another technique that is also useful is the Progressive WebApp (PWA). These are interesting because they bypass the App stores altogether, leveraging instead the browser that you already have on your device.

Alternatives to Spotify

Take a few minutes to listen to this explanation of Spotify behaviour and business model as explained by Moon. You may have heard talk of this but it tends to get suppressed by the Empire Propaganda machine. Spotify is deeply exploitative when it comes to paying their artists, in fact they are trying to find every way possible to pay them less or not pay artists at all.

It really is time to vote with your wallet and take your subscription away from Spotify - they will not listen to anything else. You do have an increasing number of rather interesting Nostr-based alternatives and these allow you to contribute directly to the artists in bitcoin without any intermediary. This is revolutionary and transformative.

If you don't have a Nostr account yet, create one at Primal.net. Here are the main Nostr-based alternatives focused on music streaming, sharing and live audio as of early 2026 - Give them a go.

  • Wavlake (wavlake.com)
A prominent music platform built on Nostr. Artists upload tracks, fans stream them, and support via zaps. It integrates deeply with Nostr for sharing songs, playlists, and value-for-value (V4V) payments. Musicians earn Bitcoin directly from streams/listens. It's often highlighted as a decentralized alternative for indie artists.
  • Zap.stream (zap.stream)
Primarily known for live video streaming on Nostr, but heavily used for music performances, DJ sets, live concerts, and audio-focused broadcasts. Streamers (including musicians) go live, chat with viewers, and receive instant zaps. Many music creators experiment here for its low barriers and direct monetization.
  • Tunestr (tunestr.io)
A specialized platform for live music performances and streaming on Nostr. It emphasizes paid/live musical experiences with Lightning payments integrated (e.g., via Alby Hub for seamless tipping).
  • Fountain.fm
A podcast and music app powered by RSS, Lightning, and Nostr. It supports emerging artists, value-for-value boosts/zaps, and podcast-style music sharing. Artists retain ownership and fan relationships without platform lock-in.
  • ZapTrax (zaptrax.app)
A Nostr music player with Wavlake integration. It lets you discover, stream tracks, create playlists, like songs, and zap artists directly.

You do not need the latest computer

I have told you that you should avoid getting the latest phone models, going instead for something refurbished or even new from a few years ago. Refer back to our discussion on that. You can find them at good prices and they lack the control and surveillance features that the latest models now include.

So too, you do not need the latest computer. Indeed I would argue that you want to avoid the latest computers since they also increasingly incorporate proprietary hardware that will be used to track and eventually restrict what you can do with your computer. Listen here as Foci tells his story:

Click for an interesting perspective

We have discussed this at quite some length before and this is why I have moved onto my trusty Lenovo ThinkPads with Linux rather than Mac for my day-to-day computing work. You really have more options and much more privacy on computers like this.

For the best browser experience

From time to time I come across good explainers that highlight well the useful features you find in products that I recommend. This explainer below is great for Brave Browser.

Eliminating Google wherever you can

Google, like Apple and Micro$soft, is evil. Getting rid of it can be hard and you will not do it in one go but you can make many small steps and over time you will dramatically reduce your dependence on it, or even eliminate it entirely.

Click below for a great explainer on apps that can replace google on your phone.

There are options - be sure to use and enable them

Another reason to avoid buying the latest models of phones and computers is to make a statement of your discontent and disagreement with the behaviour of these companies. They simply do not care about you and the only way they notice or pay any attention is when their revenue stream diminishes. Do not feed the beast.

The following are links from my Liferea feeds - learn, enjoy and share. The updates from all of the Big Tech companies are becoming more and more ridiculous and immoral. Read on to understand them and think seriously about your own Sovereign Computing plans.

Micro$oft's most unhinged update yet

This latest update is unethical and inexcusable. It is purely corrupt and dishonest. Micro$oft is such a disgusting company and they will do anything they can to trick users into using their unwanted AI products and (in so doing) to accepting their Terms and Conditions.

I have to agree - this is the worst yet - WDYT?

Wait - it gets worse

You likely have seen this chart or something similar that demonstrates the circular (some would say, "incestuous") investments that all of the Big Tech companies are making in each other and how they are buying their own shares to drive up the prices. In case you forgot, all of this is done with borrowed money that was magicked into existence through loans.

This will not end well

Perhaps now you understand why Sam Altman has been pushing the message that AI is the new "too big to fail" industry. Just like the banks back in 2008 you can be certain that the losses will be "socialised" (ie you will have to pay) when the music stops.

OpenAI in trouble
Dagogo Altraide presents a starkly critical assessment of OpenAI’s precarious position, arguing the company faces an unprecedented convergence of financial, technological, competitive, and leadership crises that threaten its survival. Financial Collapse Imminent OpenAI’s financial situation is described as catastrophic. The company is projected to lose $14 billion in 2026 and

Click for a rather well-sourced investigation summary by Dagogo

"You know, the honest answer is we have no idea [how we will make money]. We have never made any revenue. We have no current plans to make revenue. We have no idea how we may one day generate revenue. We have made a soft promise to investors that once we've built this sort of generally intelligent system, basically, we will ask it to figure out a way to generate an investment return for you."
~ Sam Altman (CEO) at TechCrunch VC event

Mutant Capitalism

Thanks to one of my subscribers who pointed out this interesting talk by Yanis Varoufakis. I have not always agreed with Yanis over the years but I have (and still do) recommend his book "Talking to my Daughter about the Economy". This talk too is highly recommended in which he explains why the Big Tech companies behave as badly as they do.

Mutant Capitalism
In this monologue, Yanis Varoufakis presents a radical thesis: we have moved beyond capitalism into a new economic system he terms “techno-feudalism”—a post-capitalist order with feudal-like elements where power derives not from land or traditional machinery, but from “cloud capital,” a mutant form of machinery designed for behavioural modification.

Click for summary and to listen to Yanis' talk

He also makes some suggestions about what you can do about it. Spoiler: he has the same recommendation that I have been giving you here for years.

It's Rotten inside

In case you needed independent corroboration of all of the above this short update from Becky gives it rather clearly. And she implicates yet another undesirable and unethical Big Tech company, Amazon.

Amazon insider
A former Amazon L7 manager with seven years at the company (five in management) argues that recent tech layoffs are fundamentally not about AI, despite what companies claim. Instead, she describes them as the inevitable consequence of systemic organizational rot that began during the pandemic hiring surge. The Real Cause:

Becky explains what you may have suspected but the truth is even worse

💡
If it is in the news - it is a ruse. There are no coincidences.

🤔 Closing Thoughts

Prepare to be amazed by this walk-through of 50 years of history. It begins with the 1561 Nuremberg celestial event, which Jason connects to the Phoenix phenomenon and Mother Shipton's prophecies of future phenomena in 2040 and 2046.

A significant revelation is that Sir Francis Bacon was secretly Francis Tudor, the illegitimate son of Queen Elizabeth I, who later edited the King James Bible and authored Shakespeare's works. Recall this was Peter's conclusion too.

Exodus People
Summary of Jason’s Monologue: 1561–1611 Jason’s monologue covers a sweeping chronological period from 1561 to 1611, weaving together historical events, astronomical phenomena, prophetic connections and what he describes as chronological patterns - mathematical relationships linking events across millennia. The narrative connects this period to the Phoenix phenomenon, Anunnaki chronology

Click for summary of all the key points and for Jason's monologue in full

Jason also touches on Nostradamus' hidden knowledge and future reset/destruction dates, as well as repeated Jewish expulsions throughout Europe, which he attributes to their financial crimes and espionage. This may well sound familiar!

Everything that Jason describes is thoroughly supported by authoritative and often contemporary references that are all included in his Chronicon. Indeed, it is his copy of the Chronicon that he uses to talk you through this history lesson. Jason's Chronicon is available free to download here.
