119 - June in the Mediterranean
🇪🇸 It is already June and we are nearly half way through the year. How has your year been so far? V and I are back again in Palma for another stretch and we are enjoying being back in our daily routine here in the Mediterranean.
Our travel was about as smooth as you can expect these days. Happy to share a pro tip for those travelling out via Terminal 1 in Dublin: head LEFT at the security check. They have installed new machines where you leave everything in your bags - no need to take anything out. It is still the old system on the security check on the right where laptops and everything need to come out of the suitcase. Of course, you know that this is all a ritual and just an additional tax but at least this lessens the inconvenience.
I continue to meet up with interesting Bitcoiners here - and everywhere I go. For this I do recommend the OrangePill app - it is a great way to find people everywhere you go. Once connected you will find that there are WhatsApp and Telegram groups that can connect you further and you will find many in-person meetups that you can also join.
It was interesting to go back and re-read my newsletter of last June. Unfortunately I was right on nearly all my predictions, not least this one - more here. On the positive side, pretty much all of the software projects that I highlighted are progressing well; these are the projects you read about in my weekly Project Updates. What are you doing? Do let me know!
To understand the magnitude of the criminality of the Organised Crime that is The WHO, read Shabnam's summary - written with support of international lawyers.
Book of the week
Thanks to one of the bitcoiners that I met this week for recommending this week's book. I got my copy on Kindle and read it this week. The first four chapters document, with many references to psychological experiments of WW2 and the 1950s and 1960s, the deception that has been perpetrated and the tools that have been used over the last 4 years. Chapter 5 explains vividly how the Education System underpinned all of this and also how people are now waking up and breaking out of it for their children.
"The world will not be destroyed by those who do evil, but by those who watch them without doing anything."
~ Albert Einstein
Chapters 6 thru 9 are forward looking, giving clear and actionable steps that everyone can take to "exit the matrix", disconnect from and get out of the Fiat Ponzi system before it collapses. What is good is that they also focus on the importance of building parallel systems. Do not waste time and effort fighting the system - build, contribute to and support something better instead.
I particularly recommend that you read Chapter 9, Every Day is Election Day - to understand how you really do have the power to change things and you get to execute this vote multiple times every day. The more who do so, the stronger we become.
Step-by-step - 12 things you can already do without asking permission:
- Take Baby steps - you do not need to do it all at once
- Boycott, not cancellation - there is a difference
- Out-populate the Malthusians - I'm a bit old for this but do it if you can!
- Opt out of Fiat Education - important for anyone with children
- Opt out of Fiat Food - support your local farmers and market
- Opt out of Fiat Medicine - this one should be obvious to you by now!
- Opt out of Fiat Media - ditch your TV and drop the newspapers
- Opt out of Fiat Money - this is where Bitcoin comes in
- Give Lightning a try - it will change your life
- Connections give you allies - Orangepill app, meetups and local groups
- Buy from Bitcoin-based companies - support the parallel economy
- Quit Fiat-mining, earn bitcoin! One of the best steps that I took.
This is why I am supporting all the projects that I discuss in Project Updates each week. I am taking the positive steps that I can. What are you doing?
Books for holiday reading
Around this time of year I start to get requests from people asking for advice on books that they should read over the summer, when they envisage they will have some time outside the matrix. I'll be putting together some recommendations over the coming weeks, however to get you started here are a few pointers to ones that I have read, enjoyed and reviewed over the last year or two.
- The Mandibles - The plot: In 2029, the United States is engaged in a bloodless world war that will wipe out the savings of millions of American families. Overnight, on the international currency exchange, the “almighty dollar” plummets in value, to be replaced by a new global currency, the “bancor.” In retaliation, the president declares that America will default on its loans. “Deadbeat Nation” being unable to borrow, the government prints money to cover its bills. What little remains to savers is rapidly eaten away by runaway inflation.
- William Rees-Mogg's The Sovereign Individual - foresaw very clearly what is currently happening - do get your own copy (book, kindle or audio). Chapters 10 and 11 relate to what's happening now and what's next.
- Lyn Alden's Broken Money - gives you the complete A-Z of how money works and all the bad choices that governments can (and did) make. You will also understand how money really should work for a peaceful and prosperous society.
- Saifedean Ammous' The Fiat Standard - explains how national currencies work today and how they are fundamentally broken, inevitably favouring those at the top, nearest to the money printer and disadvantaging everyone else. He outlines the many negative consequences of the current system. Look around you and you will recognise all that he describes.
- Murray Rothbard's Anatomy of the State - this is foundational to all of the books and other insights above. This is a short read (one hour) also available on free audiobook. It is required knowledge - you have no excuse.
A couple of Classics - the following are fun, informative and highly recommended:
- Sherlock Holmes - Ultimate Collection - I absolutely love this complete collection read by Stephen Fry. At nearly 63 hours of audio you get your money's worth. It is all of the books read in a sensible sequence with Stephen's expert commentary and guidance interspersed between the readings.
- Mythos read by Stephen Fry is a "must do". This has got to be one of the best books I have ever read! Fabulously interesting and insightful - I had always wondered what the Greek Gods got up to and could never have imagined so much! BTW - this will also give you a grounding in the stories that you need to know for much more than you likely realise.
Fiction - or is it closer to real life than you realised?
- Snow Crash - The story takes place in some post-crisis world where trust in governments and countries has broken down and the world is made up of territories controlled by various corporations - each of which has their own "passport" and rules. The inhabitants of the world spend their time "living" in the Metaverse (yes - he did coin that term). Of course there is some sort of computer virus that strikes and threatens to end everything - you can imagine how things develop.
- The Hitchhikers' Guide to the Galaxy - in particular the Restaurant at the End of the Universe. There is a theory which states that if ever anyone discovers exactly what the Universe is for and why it is here, it will instantly disappear and be replaced by something even more bizarre and inexplicable. There is another theory which states that this has already happened.
- Guards! Guards! - The story follows a plot by a secret brotherhood, the Unique and Supreme Lodge of the Elucidated Brethren of the Ebon Night, to overthrow the Patrician of Ankh-Morpork and install a puppet king, under the control of the Supreme Grand Master.
- Pyramids - Conservatives vs progressives was, even in this version of ancient Egypt, a hot topic and Pratchett ridicules the arguments of antiquated minds by exaggerating their prime goals and authorities in general.
- Going Postal - a fascinating find and so much learning on the origins and corruption of money.
- Mistborn - The Final Empire. You really ought to recognise and understand the importance of learning from wisdom of prior generations.
Do let me know what you think of these and I would love to hear your book recommendations. What should I be reading this summer?

🛠️ Project Updates
Just one update this week but an important one. eCash has got to be one of the most important things that we are working on and both Fedimint and Cashu are pushing the boundaries on this. Read on and learn:
"Fedimint is a scalable self-custodial off-chain programmability layer on top of Bitcoin. It allows for use cases that are difficult, time-consuming, and unscalable for general users to do on-chain today. You might think I had a typo calling Fedimint a self-custodial network. Let me explain..."
~ Tony Giorgio
Have we increasingly lost sight of the nuance in the market for trust that lets us dismiss an ocean of novel and highly valuable solutions to our problems? What if the goals we are aimed at with Bitcoin aren't really final conclusions, but a spectrum laid out on a never ending path? Fedimint presents a profound shift in the trust and privacy elements of being a bitcoin user, and breaks down enormous barriers to the problem of providing a service to others. Tony, one of the incredible minds behind Mutiny, brings us an article today to reframe both the problem and the solution to the many challenges of building a Bitcoin world.

Techlead has resurfaced - older and wiser
After 4 months, Techlead has resurfaced with some rather interesting observations. You may not agree with everything he says but he is right on quite a few things. His observations on The Bitcoin Standard are spot on and his other book recommendation seems pretty smart as well. He concludes with a few practical suggestions - they too are in the right direction.
Review the Month of May - DYOR
This is an interesting one. These two Millennials have a rather interesting take on what is going on and you have got to admire their stated ambition. Three segments: Positive News, Reactions and then Bold Predictions. This may be a "limited hangout" or they might be honest folks who have been subverted or perhaps it is indeed evidence that the Fourth Turning is Here.
I have not yet firmed up my opinion on Terence Howard's rather (too?) well-publicised claims and revelations but in the spirit of Ethical Skepticism that we have discussed last year this is certainly something that you should be aware of. I appreciate too that they recognise the need for skepticism and how to deal with it.
None of this should surprise you. Recall that the word "apocalypse"originates from the greek word "αποκαλυπτήρια", meaning "unveiling". We are now in the time when many things get unveiled and (like we discussed two weeks ago in The Secret of Oz) the curtain gets pulled back and you see what is behind. Nigel has some more observations, also in similar vein.
Recognise too that in this time there will be "false prophets" and that the second beast is that of confusion, working alongside the first beast to deceive people and force them to believe in and worship the first beast. Richard thinks similarly.
Light at the end of the tunnel?
I really love Peter's sense of humour in the face of the clown world of US politics.
And here Peter describes the inevitable consequence, the Third Mandate of the FED.
🤔 Closing Thoughts
This week I am again closing out with a selection of thoughts, at least one of which should appeal to or resonate with you. As always, DYOR and be sure to make/take your own informed decisions on the basis of all available information. Ethical Skepticism is no bad thing.
First up is a thought experiment that I encourage you to take. Next is another of MLB's thought-provoking narratives (it does seem pretty convincing) and I conclude with the A-Z explainer from Jason (not for beginners).
Thought Experiment of the week
Why would someone feel that they need the government and the medical establishment to save them?
Let's take a different approach to this argument by looking at its historical and spiritual context and connecting areas of thought that are not normally tied together. It is for you to decide what happened and what the solution can be for this is only meant to be an exercise in curiosity.
Old World - more real than you knew
MLB has boots-on-the-ground today! Investigating multiple buildings in Minnesota, including the State Capitol building and shady characters. Buildings that we are told has had previous buildings on the same site. We are also go inside of the massive cathedral located right down the road. Are you ready to go inside and take this research even further?
Not for beginners
In this video Jason talks you through plenty of evidence from A-Z, supporting his position and ARCHAIX - Advanced Research and Chronological History of Artificial Intelligence X. When you are ready for this, you will know.
