235 - Antwerp this weekend
Around the MAS...

🇧🇪 We had a great week in Belgium - mostly at the Belgian coast in Nieuwpoort and nearby. Among other places we got along to Oostende where we enjoyed a few of the some nice walks around the town. We had pretty good weather all week and made the most of the Kust Tram to get around since we have no car.

We had a great morning walk around Oostende. V had spotted that they have some Art-Walks around town so we went for a walkabout and a nice brunch there too. Other activities included a tour of the Westfront museum in Nieuwpoort and a most enjoyable afternoon on the "Reddingboot 2". Among other things we learned the difference between a reddingboot and a reddingsboot; Dutch speakers, did you know that?

Over this weekend V and I are in Antwerp. We have some family administration things to do and are planning to meet up with as many of our friends here as we can. We have already slotted in quite a few meetups here in A-Town. In case we did not get to you yet, feel free to reach out if you want to meet up!

Interview of the week

This week's interview is both sobering and inspirational. Gabriel Custodiet, host of the Watchman Privacy show, interviews Effrat Fenigson — an Israeli independent journalist, podcaster and former corporate marketing executive — on technocracy, surveillance, cancel culture, and personal sovereignty.

Effrat Fenigson critiques Israel's transformation into a technocratic state. She warns against government surveillance, digital currencies, and the erosion of individual freedom of choice. She advocates for sovereignty by building a strong personal brand and identity to withstand cancel culture and deplatforming. Her work focuses on exposing global systems of control and maintaining individual autonomy in a digital age.

Effrat Fenigson
Effrat Fenigson describes her “previous life” as a corporate chief marketing officer (or VP Marketing) at various Israeli technology companies. She was born and raised in Israel, but moved to Australia at age 21, where she lived for six years, obtained Australian citizenship, married an Australian, had a son, and

Among other things - you will understand how:

  • The primary tool of modern control is the money system supported by increased surveillance, biometric digital IDs and the development of central bank digital currencies.
  • Regarding the October 7th Hamas attack, Effrat calls it out as an obvious false flag operation, speaking from her own experience in the IDF in this border area and well-confirmed security stand-downs.
  • She has faced significant deplatforming across various services including Telegram and Stripe, leading her to adopt Bitcoin and platforms like Zapright for financial sovereignty.
  • She advocates for personal sovereignty, urging individuals to define their core values and identity to protect themselves against external manipulation and cancel culture.

Book of the week

Since we are back in Belgium, V spotted a book that she had bought for one of our friends on a previous visit and picked it up to give it a read. She then recommended that I should read it too - "It'll be good for your Dutch and you might learn a thing or two"!

Hoe word ik een leuk oud mens?
Growing old happens automatically — one day flows into the next, and before you know it, the years have piled up. But growing old pleasantly, being a “leuk oud mens” (a nice old person), is an entirely different matter. That is the central premise of Kolet Janssen’s 2025 book, published

I have to say - it is good and I can certainly recommend it. My Dutch is better as a result too. I cannot vouch for the quality of the writing in Dutch, but V assures me that it is pretty good and the Belgians should enjoy it!

🛠️ Project Updates

This week I am reviewing some interesting thoughts and suggestions surrounding self-custody. After the Coldcard Vulnerability incident, everyone should be reviewing and, if necessary, refining their self custody approach. You need to decide what works best for you - consider this as useful input to trigger you to research this topic more and come to an informed conclusion. What are you doing?

An unpopular opinion worth considering

Gabriel Custodiet, host of the Escape the Technocracy podcast and author of the Watchman's Torch premium newsletter, argues against the broad use of cryptocurrency hardware wallets.

First, hardware wallets complicate fund access — transactions require both the device and a software wallet, so if your signer is stored remotely, you cannot move funds quickly. This discourages actually using cryptocurrency.

Second, the devices create a physical security target: their appearance signals crypto wealth, and shipping data breaches (like Trezor's in August 2026, affecting customers across seven countries) expose buyers to home-invasion risks.

Third, they are over-marketed to under-educated users who never learn fundamental crypto skills, breeding incompetence.

You likely do want to think about Multisig

It is important to consider how your self-custody holdings will likely develop in the coming years. As fiat currencies collapse, Bitcoin and Monero (both Proof of Work currencies) will inevitably increase in price and value. A ten-times increase over current values is not at all unlikely and you need to be certain that your operational procedures are able to handle such a situation.

Multisig setups can be more secure and they have some interesting properties around inheritance as well. You would do well to consider options like this. Below is an article that explains how you can safely give this a try using "Test bitcoin" that is fully separate from the real bitcoin network.

Multisig setups
Testing 2-of-3 multisig is a great way to learn before committing real funds. Option 1 (recommended): Sparrow as coordinator, Trezor + phone + desktop as keys Sparrow Wallet runs natively on both Linux Mint and macOS and is the most mature multisig coordinator available. Keystore Device Notes Key 1 Trezor

Well worth considering - step by step to start exploring - also 3-of-5 for inheritance planning

I recommend that you do take some time to evaluate options like this. You can safely try them and run in test mode until you get more confident and then switch over gradually. As always, document and test your operational and backup procedures thoroughly. Read the next article on Wallet Playground for how to do that.

You are not constrained to 2-of-3. Other setups may work better for you. For example 3-of-5 configurations are often used for inheritance-friendly setups. Click here or above for details on how that works.

Wallet Playground - how interesting and useful

I came across this fascinating interview by Stefan of Piers Macrae who had produced a superbly useful set of tools that lets you test out all components of a self-custody setup directly in your browser. This is way beyond interesting and useful! Give it a go.

Wallet Playground is an interactive, browser-based tool that enables you to practice Bitcoin self-custody by simulating real hardware wallets and coordinator software without needing physical devices. The platform provides a neutral, educational environment where individuals can master multisig setups and improve their security practices through hands-on, realistic simulations.

All of this is done safely on Signet (the bitcoin test network) and it let's you test out your procedures exactly as they appear in real life! The Guided Coaching run videos are particularly useful and recommended.

Think about it!

The 12 Symptoms Your Body Uses to Save Your Life is an essay that explores the idea that common physical symptoms—such as fever, inflammation, mucus, diarrhea, vomiting, skin rashes, fatigue, appetite loss, coughing, swelling, and pain - are not signs of disease, but are instead an intelligent and intentional response by the body to restore homeostasis (the process by which the body maintains a stable internal environment).

An Essay on Suppression, Cascade, and the Pharmaceutical Business Model

A rather prescient article - click to read and learn

Modern medicine treats these responses as the problem itself, using pharmaceuticals to suppress them, which likely turns acute, short-term recovery events into long-term, chronic conditions. For example, a fever is like a bonfire used to burn off toxins, while mucus is a transport medium used to carry irritants out of the body. By suppressing these natural defenses with drugs, the body is prevented from completing its necessary repair work, often leading to a cycle of medication and further health complications.

True healing involves identifying and removing the original cause of the insult (the factor that damaged the tissue, such as poor nutrition or stress) rather than suppressing the body's protective signals.

Thanks to one of my subscribers who pointed out this explainer. I highly recommend that you click through to read the summary or listen to Andre explain it to you.

Andre argues that the United States' status as a world reserve currency functions as a resource curse that hollows out the US domestic economy. The government is executing a debt-management strategy that shifts obligations to short-term bills and utilizes stablecoin users to absorb debt while using inflation to silently erode its real value.

Andre Jikh’s transcript argues that the US dollar’s status as the world reserve currency has become a “resource curse” for America — hollowing out the real economy — and that the current administration is executing a deliberate, multi-step plan to manage the resulting debt spiral. 🤔 Closing Thoughts

I have covered this before when I introduced you to the work of Bart Sibrel. If you have not watched it yet, I highly recommend that you do watch his documentary "A funny thing happened on the way to the moon", in which he includes the actual footage, (accidentally) released by NASA of "astronauts" faking some of the famous photographs, claimed to be of their journey to the moon.

Recently John Hamer has written another excellent book, this one with his co-researcher Alastair Neil. In it they give the most complete overview of the fraud, that is NASA, that I have found so far. They introduce quite some new facts and findings in addition to Bart's material and I recommend this book highly.

Especially now, as the geopolitical situation bears many similarities to the predicament of the USA with the Vietnam War, where there is a strong need to distract the population with alternative narratives and justify the misappropriation of vast quantities of money - it is good to know how this has been done before.

One giant lie to mankind
William Ramsey hosts authors John Hamer and Alistair Neil to discuss their 2026 book One Giant Lie to Mankind: The Untold Story of the Apollo Missions (447 pages, footnoted). The book argues that the Apollo moon landings were faked. This was Ramsey’s sixth show with Hamer; their first collaboration

Do not fall for the same trick again! You should be able to see how the discussions about "going to Mars" and "going back to the moon" are recently re-surfacing. Most people are stupid enough that this will fool them again, just like COVID and so many other orchestrated events - don't be one of them!
