178 - Another birthday

178 - Another birthday
Telly Tubbies may be about!

🇬🇧 We are here again in Belfast for my birthday. This weekend some of the family is coming over from Belgium and we will be celebrating my birthday. As expected, there is no sign of any "climate change" here - it is cloudy, drizzly and cool as usual. We'll make the most of it and we will do some more birthday celebrations next month back in Belgium.

Yet again I find myself a year older and wiser - how are you doing? I do feel both older and wiser. For sure the years are taking a toll on the body - all the old injuries return and any new ones never really heal; yoga becomes more challenging and there are plenty of things that I can just no longer do - but you adapt. I certainly feel wiser and I have had so much pleasure in all of the reading and research that I have been able to do over the last few years - I have done my best to share key insights for those of you who want to follow along.

It's interesting to check back on previous birthdays and see what was happening

Do click above and follow the links back to my previous birthday thoughts. I am happy too to have this newsletter and a great reference to all the things that have happened and that I have learned over the last few years.

V and I have really enjoyed all our travel in recent years. We love the locations that we visit and it is great to have friends around the world. You do get to appreciate that the world is a big place and it is great to see things from many perspectives.

I also enjoy all the project work that I have been part of. These Bitcoin projects are really important and it is great to be doing something useful and constructive. How about you - what are you doing?

Book of the week

This week's book was not planned but it was a great find and there are no coincidences! A couple of weeks ago I was inspired by Adam's explainer on Tether which itself echoed and built on quite a few of the thoughts in Adam Fergusson's "Half Baked Thesis" - both excellent! I discovered that he had just recently brought out a book and I was craving a physical book to read - so I got it! Grok's summary is here.

Key Themes and Arguments

  • AI's Disruption of Labour and Value: Livingston posits that AI doesn't merely replace jobs but erodes trust, consensus and meaning by commodifying human knowledge and learned skills. What begins as augmentation inevitably concludes as substitution. Not because AI produces objectively superior outputs but because it generates acceptable outputs at fractional costs.
You unwittingly trained your replacement. Not deliberately, not consciously but inevitably. Every public artefact of your professional existence, every email, every publication, every case study, every presentation, every open source contribution, every blog post became training material for the machine learning subsystems that now simulate your professional function.
  • Philosophical and Spiritual Dimensions: The book weaves economics, metaphysics, and technology into a narrative that frames the rise of AI as a "metaphysical migration" and a battle between simulation and truth.
And so, once again, the task of civilisational memory falls to a remnant. Those who refuse the easy path of digital dissolution. Those who build systems anchored in the immutable rather than infinitely manipulatable. The new monks are emerging, not with tonsures and habits but with private keys and proof of work. Their monasteries are being built, not with stone but with the protocols that cannot be corrupted by the whims of digital emperors.

I was intrigued to find mention of the remnant in his arguments. This ought to remind you of our discussion on:  The Remnant, The Parasite & The Masses. That was inspired by a 1930’s essay by Albert J Nock - Isaiah’s Job.  Click here for Alex to read you his article.  As Remnant, you can be sure of only two things:

  • the Remnant exists
  • they will find you

For those of you who are awake to what is happening - this is important advice to keep in mind.  No need to spend effort trying to wake people up - rather focus on helping and collaborating with those who are awake or awakening and need help.

🛠️ Project Updates

This week my focus is on the big picture of what is happening in the Bitcoin space. The network and the asset have proven themselves over the last 15 years. Now it is really going global and this has implications and opportunities.

The big picture

Lyn Alden’s new piece lays out the full arc of Bitcoin's monetisation path. This includes leverage, ETFs, treasury strategies and how Bitcoin is infiltrating the legacy financial system not despite its cypherpunk roots—but because of them. You will also learn the important difference between situational money vs. ubiquitous money.

"In order for something to be used as ubiquitous money, the spender has to already have it, and the recipient has to want to hold it. Notably, people usually want to receive more of what they already have. After all, if a potential recipient wanted to hold it, they likely would have already bought some. So, if a new type of ubiquitous money were to arise, the majority of people would likely first encounter it as an investment."
~ Lyn Alden

The Rise of Bitcoin Stocks and Bonds
Originally published: July 2025 During the past year or so, the Bitcoin ecosystem has largely been led by the rise of corporate bitcoin treasury strategies. Although Strategy (MSTR) pioneered the trend back in 2020, the follow-on adoption by others was slow. However, after yet another cycle of bear market and bull market activity, as well […]

Some of the key points:

  • Corporate Bitcoin Adoption: The Bitcoin ecosystem has seen a surge in corporate adoption of Bitcoin as a treasury asset, driven by a 2023 FASB update and market cycles, with companies like Strategy leading the trend.
  • Investor Appeal: Bitcoin stocks and bonds attract investors due to mandates restricting direct Bitcoin investment, offering indirect exposure through corporate securities.
  • Leverage Advantages: Corporations leverage Bitcoin more effectively than individuals or hedge funds, using long-term debt like bonds to avoid margin calls and volatility issues faced by leveraged ETFs.
  • Bitcoin as Money: Bitcoin's journey from a niche asset to a portable store of value is highlighted, emphasising its role as a situational money that is increasingly seen as a sound investment.
  • Network Effects: Bitcoin's success is tied to its network effects, making it more attractive as a store of value and portable capital, surpassing many fiat currencies in global usability.
  • Corporate Impact: Corporations do not impair Bitcoin's decentralisation; they contribute to its growth and liquidity, making it more robust and widely accepted.
  • Risks and Opportunities: While concentration of Bitcoin holdings by corporations poses risks, the network's design and economic incentives mitigate these concerns, offering opportunities for broader adoption.
  • Retail Access: The proliferation of Bitcoin ETFs and corporate stocks improves retail access, reducing reliance on cryptocurrency exchanges and their associated risks.
  • Bitcoin's Future: Bitcoin's path includes potential adoption by sovereign entities and as a ubiquitous medium of exchange, driven by its increasing liquidity and decreasing volatility.
  • Bitcoin's Role: Bitcoin is positioned as a long-term investment and a tool for financial freedom, with ongoing efforts to lower barriers to entry and promote its use globally.

For balance - a caution to keep in mind

I do agree with Heidi that the resistance/refusal of mainstream finance to use the Proof-of-reserves tools that they forced onto the crypto exchanges is a rather big red flag. Lyn also acknowledges that those who do proper proof-of-reserves will have competitive advantage over time and be less prone to fraud.

These tools allow you as a holder to cryptographically verify that your holding is part of the reserve that the custodian claims to have and to validate that the claimed holdings are properly held.

Some wise words from Heidi

In case it is not obvious to you. Not using these tools enables the (corrupt) entities to say that they hold more bitcoin than they really do. This is also known as "paper bitcoin". It it analogous to "paper gold" - it is nothing more than traditional banking fraud, an IOU and you can be sure that when SHTF you will not be among the senior creditors - that is the whole purpose of The Great Taking.

In this sense, bitcoin is uniquely valuable since it is outside money that you can choose to hold it yourself in "self custody" and not rely on any third party. I fully expect that we will see further Celsius- and FTX-like events where supposedly trusted institutions will be found not to have the assets they claimed and their account holders will loose. You have been warned - DYOR and make your own informed decisions.

What could (should?) you do?

In case you were wondering

You may well be wondering: Is Trump blackmailed over Epstein? The question is more relevant than ever now that his administration has completely whitewashed the release of the Epstein files, breaking a key promise to the public.

To understand this, you need to understand the system that creates and controls politicians. Also known as the Proof-of-Weapons Network it has three primary tools to ensure governments remain subordinate to corporate and intelligence interests: investing in and grooming politicians, buying them with campaign financing through lobby groups, and if all else fails, blackmail. The Epstein saga is a clear example of that third tool in action.

The documentary "Trump's Zionist Ball & Chain" by independent journalist Ryan Dawson provides the critical receipts and names needed to understand the environment that shaped him. This blog post by Simon Dixon synthesises the findings from that documentary to help you see the full picture.

It should be obvious by now

Of course, it’s being sold to us as "progress". Faster. Safer. More modern. But behind the shiny facade hides something much more insidious: a shift from a society built on individual freedom to one where everything must be authorised, traced, and controlled. The disappearance of cash is not just a technical change—it’s a shift in power, one that threatens to lead us directly into a techno-authoritarian society. Once you grasp this, you may feel the urge to speak up. Because the time to act is now.

I want to draw your attention to an imminent danger: the elimination of physical cash in favor of a so-called “digital euro.”

🤔 Closing Thoughts

When you take your seat for Cirque du Soleil's longest-running Las Vegas production, Mystère, you might think you’re in for a night of spectacular acrobatics and whimsical characters. You are, but you’re also witnessing something far deeper: an initiatory ritual with a story hidden in plain sight. The first clue is in the title itself. "Mystère" is derived from the Greek mystérion, meaning a "secret rite or secret doctrine".

Decoding the "Mystère" - thanks to Jason

The show's powerful music isn't just atmospheric gibberish; it's a fabricated language with a hidden meaning known only to the creators and maybe the performers. Every element, from the symbolic Phoenix palms dotting the stage to enigmatic slogans, is intentional. The show is not just a performance; it's a ritual and narrative waiting to be decoded.

The story begins with the creation myth. The opening act, with its bungee-cord-bound performers soaring through the air, represents the organisation of chaos into order. This primordial moment introduces the core duality of the human experience through two characters: a Sun baby and a Moon girl. The Sun baby symbolises the part of humanity that seeks meaning through external authority, dogma and religion. In contrast, the Moon girl represents those who find meaning within—in the raw, beautiful, and chaotic experience of life itself.

This newly formed world is soon visited. The arrival of masked dancers signifies the descent of the Anuna, or the "Watchers" of ancient lore, into a pre-flood world inhabited by skilled acrobats who represent earthborn humans. But this intervention leads to catastrophe. A planetary cataclysm is depicted through a sudden pole shift, triggered by the arrival of an intruder planet—symbolised by a menacing horned figure perched on its own sphere.

In the aftermath, giants walk the stage, a direct reference to the biblical Nephilim born from the union of the Watchers and humans. A seesaw act becomes a powerful symbol for the Earth's violent, wobbling shift on its axis. The show's climax is a grand cosmic resolution: a red world, perhaps the intruder planet Nemesis X, is seen departing the system. This allows for the return of the Sun, represented by a glorious solar chariot. As the old order fades, a gigantic snail slithers across the stage—a perfect symbol for the slow, antediluvian world that was lost to the flood.

Mystère isn't an isolated tale. It connects directly to another currently running Las Vegas spectacle, Awakening at the Wynn. That show’s narrative, which centres on a darkened sun, a quest to restore light, and the wisdom of the Phoenix, shares a mythos with Mystère of ancient cataclysms and celestial cycles.

These shows appear to be a deliberate unveiling of a hidden, cyclical mythos—one that validates deep research into our planet's history. It suggests that what you are watching is not just a story, but the story, revealed to anyone with eyes to see it.
