39 - Hua Hin for a bit
🇹🇭 Another week, another location on our world tour of interesting potential future locations after Madeira, Mallorca and Malta as well as Bangkok, Phuket and Chiangmai. This week we are in Hua Hin, a coastal town a few hours drive south of Bangkok. We flew down last Sunday - internal flights in Thailand are convenient and fair value.
The atmosphere here is quite different from Changmai and the other places we have been. It is really nice to be back at the coast - I do enjoy morning walks along the beach and that is one thing you cannot do up in Chiangmai. Aside from the beach there is quite a bit less here by way of facilities for foreigners - it really is a small town with a few tourist services. No co-working spaces - there is a gym (albeit basic) and fairly few cannabis shops and money exchangers - go figure!
The weather here is a bit more tropical than up in Chiangmai. It is wetter and the four traditional seasons are less pronounced.
The following are a few pictures from walking around Hua Hin this week. The town is quite small. It has what is claimed to be the prettiest train station in Thailand and long white beaches.
Book of the week
This week I was reminded of The Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy. It is quite a while since I first read it but the particularly relevant point is that where Arthur Dent suddenly realises that his house (and much more) is about to be demolished to make way for a hyperspace bypass. Upon protesting he was told simply that the plans has been "on display" for ages and that if he didn't like it he should have spoken up earlier.
Ford: “But the plans were on display at the town-hall…”
Arthur: “On display? I eventually had to go down to the cellar to find them.”
Ford: “That’s the display department. But look, you found the notice, didn’t you?”
Arthur: “Yes, I did. It was on display in the bottom of a locked filing cabinet stuck in a disused lavatory with a sign on the door saying ‘Beware of the Leopard.”
― Douglas Adams
And so it is with the systematic destruction of the western economies that you see ongoing at present - aka "Great Reset" (per WEF) or "Great Deleveraging" (per Dalio). Everything that is happening has been signposted and "on display" like Arthur's notice. This is something we discussed already at length back in Issue 8. In that issue and subsequent ones I pointed out many of these signposts and indications.
Uncomfortable as it may be, you can catch up with the plot
If you have not read the earlier issues of the newsletter you might want to go back and check them out. Each one contains links to relevant material "on display". With the next issue we hit the first anniversary of my "Letter from Around the World" and I plan to do some read-throughs as screen-share on youtube; it will be interesting to look back on these things with a year of hindsight and we can see together what we got right and not!
Song of the week
This week Roger Waters released a new verion of "Comfortably Numb". This is a fabulous refresh to that amazing classic from 1979 - already 43 years ago! As Roger says:
it's intended as a wake up call and a bridge towards a kinder future with more talking to strangers, either in "the bar" or just "passing in the street" and less slaughter "in some foreign field".
― Roger Waters
I do recommend that you take Roger's advice. Turn off your TV (I have not owned or used one for 40 years); stop listening to the mainstream news (propaganda) and start living your life. Meet and talk with people in real life (eg at the pub, club or hike) - discuss together and collaborate on useful projects going forward. Do not allow the Empire to steal your energy and life. It is normal that you will not always agree on everything, nor do you need to - different views and opinions that are freely discussed are signs of a healthy environment along with respect for eachother.
🎓 Reading, listening and learning
Below are some interesting sources that I came across, or was reminded of, in the past week - for your enjoyment and edification.
The ephemeral web
By now you have probably noticed that links to useful material on websites can be a bit fragile and transient - especially if they contain useful information that runs contrary to official propaganda - ie something that ought to be open for debate and informed discussion in the free world.
In the video below, James C gives some useful hints and tricks that you can try if/when links don't work for you. Unfortunately I think this will become increasingly necessary - he does this as a hands-on coaching and demonstration session - highly recommended to have this skill.
The other sources and explainers that he mentioned in this video are:
- The Library of Alexandria is on Fire and
- How to Find Deleted Videos
- and I do recommend James website in its entirety
Another useful skill
When you find something especially interesting or useful on youtube or one of the other video streaming services you might want to consider downloading a copy for future reference - these have an uncanny tendency to disappear as/when censorship increases. An easy option is to use youtube-dl or the alternative fork yt-dlp. If you have a mac, the easiest way to install this is with Homebrew.
Wise words from Guy
If you are not subscribed to Guy's weekly newsletter, you should be. I highly recommend his latest newsletter. In the second part of this newsletter he talks very clearly and frankly about the need for open (non-censored) communication with public debate and dialog.
The thing is that, so long as Twitter and other open social media platforms are around, the government’s propaganda will be ineffective. It definitely doesn’t help that Twitter’s new big bird has been defecating on establishment journalists while elevating citizen journalism. This is something Elon has admitted the elites will get in the way of. It would be convenient if Twitter happens to collapse under Elon’s leadership. It’s easy to forget that he’s technically an elite…
I think we do need to be concerned about the viability of Twitter. The actions of Elon (the new owner) do seem remarkably like planned demolition. Given the importance of having something like Twitter that disrupts censorship of free speech this might indeed have been part of the plan, along with FTX (on 11/9 - BTW this was not a coincidence). In subsequent newsletters, I will be covering decentralised services that are possible alternatives to Twitter. Candidates include Mastodon and a relative new kid on the block Nostr; neither is perfect but this is the inevitable battle against the monopoly - David against Golliath.
⚠️ Pay attention...
I do recommend this thought-provoking walk and talk by Max. He points out very clearly with many references what is likely coming next unless we push back. He makes very practical suggestions for what you can do about it if you do not agree or wish for their plan - hint: it starts with you and each of us and and also builds locally. You ought to have noticed by now that all the the political parties have been corrupted by the fiat money system and they create merely the illusion of choice and they specifically foster division of the population to distract them from addressing the real issue - the creeping totalitarianism.
Read the "leaders" declaration following the event. Not in my name and not with my support is all that I can say. Click below to listen to Neil's interpretation and warning. I did warn about this back in Issue 8.
REMEMBER: In theory Governments should respect Consent of the Governed and the 1948 Universal Declaration of Human Rights states that "The will of the people shall be the basis of the authority of government". For you to decide if and to what extent governments today are acting in line with these principles. If not, what can you do about it? Refer back to letter 9 - section: So What can you do about it.
😷 Talking about masks...
You might want to watch the full length explainer here or else simply click the image below for the headlines you need to know. Perhaps you can see now that forcing you to wear a mask is just making you perform a ritual? What government or "health authority" can be credible in their demands? This is just a tool to spread division and distrust - just like the yellow star in WW2. Wake up and use your brain!
🤔 How curious is this...
In 2012 Louis Lefebvre released this 7 minute cartoon which was apparently the result of 5 years of work. At first sight this might be "just a cartoon" and a bit odd in places but many believe the symbolism runs much deeper. Recall the explanation that was given to Arthur Dent. Recall too our recent discussions on rituals.
For now I will let you watch the movie if you like - warning there are a couple of scenes that you might find a bit disturbing but.... it's just a cartoon? Considering that this persists now 10 years on youtube this would indeed seem to be "on display" at the town-hall.
An interpretation of one of the scenes runs along these lines - you can watch John's (from TheologyEd) interpretation here. DYOR and make up your own mind. John has interpreted/decoded many scenes you would be very surprised by some of the findings. We can cover more going forward - they are quite relevant.
What do you think? Feel free to comment below - ask any questions! I am also happy to discuss - with modern technology we can even catch up on a call together - even if we cannot meet together in person in the bar! Contact information here.
