🇹🇭 As we approach Christmas and the winter solstice, cooler weather has now reached us down here in Bangkok - it is a rather pleasant 22-32 degrees here daily and it's usually sunny every day. This is certainly the good time to be in Bangkok. Merry Christmas and best wishes from us. You should find many interesting things below - consider this your Christmas Magazine, keep it around and dip back into it in the coming days.

During the week we celebrated V's birthday - we had a great day and evening out together. We went along to one of the Bangkok sky-bar locations and we really had a great evening - it exceeded expectations! It is certainly true that it is better to pay for experiences rather than things.

Monday evening was Bitcoin Satoshi meetup. As usual there was a big crowd and I got to meet lots more interesting people, including from India, China, Morocco and Russia to mention but a few. During the meeting Bitcoin hit another all time high (ie the US dollar and other fiat currencies reached another all time low) - recall what we discussed last week about people being unable (and unwilling) to comprehend what is really happening even when it is explained to them many times. Hopefully if you are following along here, you are somewhat more awake to it?

In the coming week we have friends visiting Bangkok so we will be busy with lots of things planned. We are looking forward to getting out and about around town with them and will be visiting many of the great locations that we have here.

We just had full moon and this weekend is the winter solstice. This brings a rather interesting phenomenon known as the "standstill" of the sunrise. This refers to the fact that the Sun's rising position on the horizon appears to "stand still" for three days, creating an intriguing pattern - the Analemma:

1. Day of the Solstice: On the day of the solstice itself (around December 21st), the sunrise is at its southernmost point on the horizon.
2. First Standstill Day: The day after the solstice, observers may notice that the sunrise position appears relatively unchanged from the solstice day.
3. Second Standstill Day: The day after the first standstill day, there is a second day during which the sunrise still appears to be at the same position on the horizon.

This week also brought the beginning of Saturnalia.  Saturnalia was an ancient Roman festival held in honour of the god Saturn, the deity of agriculture and harvest. It was generally a time of revelry, feasting, gift-giving, and a temporary suspension of social norms - key elements being:

1. Feasting and Merriment: People would gather for elaborate feasts, indulge in food and drink, and engage in merriment. It was a time of celebration and excess.
2. Gift-Giving: Gifts were exchanged during Saturnalia, often small tokens of good luck or friendship. This tradition was a precursor to the modern practice of giving gifts during the Christmas season.
3. Role Reversals: One of the distinctive features of Saturnalia was the temporary reversal of social roles. Slaves were allowed to be treated as equals or even served by their masters. This aspect of the festival reflected the idea of a temporary, topsy-turvy world.
4. Public Celebrations: Saturnalia involved public festivities, including processions, singing, and dancing. People would take to the streets to celebrate together.
5. Temples and Sacrifices: Temples of Saturn were central to the observance of Saturnalia. Sacrifices were made to the god, and there were ceremonies and rituals to seek his favour for a bountiful harvest in the coming year.

All this Saturnalia discussion may well sound familiar - that is no accident! Likewise the discussion about the sun that rises again after 3 days! Maybe now, you begin to see? If you are ready - try this book.

This book has just 60 pages. It is a short read and the audiobook is just 60 minutes. Read it yourself and you will see the world differently. So many things that may have confused you will become absolutely clear.

After that you would do well to take 12 minutes to watch this short cartoon.

This week I update you on my latest laptop and point to steps that you likely want to take to retain your own Sovereignty. Also I remind you what you need to know about the evil that is KYC/AML and there is a superb interview with Jeff Booth on Bitcoin and how it is unstoppably evolving.

New Laptop

This week, I again picked up a new (second hand) laptop. As you know I recommend that everyone should have at least one Linux Laptop that is securely configured that you can take with you. You may well want to leave one in each jurisdiction - like that you can avoid taking it through border controls.

I picked up a nice Lenovo X280 - it is small and light. Be sure yours has enough memory since memory is not upgradable in this model. The disk is an NVME and easily swappable. 16GB and 1TB should be more than enough. Linux Mint with disk encryption turned on is also a good configuration.

KYC and AML are destroying the world

This is a most interesting interview and I highly recommend that you give it a listen.  You are likely aware to some extent of the KYC practices that banks exert and impose on their customers.  Governments are doing their best to deploy outright fascism, requiring the companies to police restrictions on their behalf and the next step that they are now trying is to get people to do it against eachother.

All independent academic research on the effectiveness of these practices (that have been forced on everyone for more than 20 years) demonstrate that they are almost completely ineffective and they impose unreasonable regulatory burdens on everyone - even including the banks themselves, who are effectively blackmailed by unaccountable regulators to keep doing more.  Olivier explains:

Pay attention

Recall last week's Book of the Week (When Money Dies) and how people get blinded to what is happening and being done to them. In this interview, Jeff Booth explains how some people wake up to this and how they can and do escape the system and take others with them.

Pay attention to this interview of Jeff. He explains the dynamics of the current money and financial system and explains how we can exit its control. The more who do so, the easier it becomes and the better it is for everyone. This is indeed a virtuous circle.

You will get to understand how Bitcoin works in layers and the importance of Lightning (and side chains like Liquid) as well as eCash (Fedi and Cashu). You will understand how the Empire does and will inevitably flight back with Legislation and Regulation to try to prevent you exercising your human rights and free choice.

I pretty much agree with most of what Neil says. V and I certainly take the view that it is important to have options in different jurisdictions and both Thailand and Hong Kong are pretty good locations, each with their own pros and cons. You simply cannot believe what the mainstream propaganda tells you about anything. If you have not lived somewhere for a while and got to know and discuss with the locals you do not really understand. Once you do, you can immediately see all the lies that are being told by the Empire propaganda machine.

Caitlin is also quite a contrarian thinker and very often right as a result. She has been pondering too on all the recent reported sightings and I tend to agree with her assessment that whatever the truth is, the Government and mainstream media is lying to you. There is plenty of speculation that this is predictive programming ahead of yet another False Flag event (that we know is overdue).
