222 - In Palma again
🇪🇸 After our unplanned week in Belgium we are back again in Palma this week. We had a great time in Belgium and even had surprisingly nice weather. Back in Palma, the summer has certainly arrived. It is 3-5 degrees warmer than when we left and sunny every day.
Now that we are back we are getting back into our daily routine. V enjoys her morning coffee and reading her Kindle at the bicycle cafe and I will often walk along to meet her after my morning yoga and project work. Of course we have our afternoon swim at the club and recently we are having great fun doing word-games together on the iPad in the evening, sometimes with a glass of wine or Limoncello.
V's toe is continuing to improve - it is not yet fully back to normal but it is restricting her less. She is already planning trips around the island - so look out for those in the coming weeks. We already got to check out Marivent park - it is how all parks in Palma should be!
As we were in Belgium last week I missed Chris' Bitcoin Mallorca meetup but I will be here for the next one on 17 June (see you there). Hopefully we will also do another meetup of the alternative BTC Mallorca WhatsApp group and I am also happy to meet individually or smaller groups for coffee and a chat. If you are looking for something interesting, useful and educational to try, give VEXL a go - you will find buy and sell offers there to practise with.
Interview of the week - the global chess game
Simon Dixon argues that current global events, including the closure of the Strait of Hormuz, are orchestrated operations by the "Financial Industrial Complex" to facilitate a global wealth reset.

- The collapse of the petrodollar system, driven by America becoming an energy exporter and the rise of China, has led to a transition toward a multi-polar world order.
- Conflict in the Middle East is manufactured "theatre" to facilitate regional realignment and test international trade constructs, rather than traditional warfare.
- Expect a massive "AI bailout" narrative will be used to justify significant money printing by the Federal Reserve. For more facts and independent research on this refer to Closing Thoughts. Don't say that nobody told you.
100 more books!
Some of you enjoyed that list of 100 books last week - it certainly contained some interesting ones. Well here is another list of 100 books that could well be worth skimming. I have already read a few of these and I picked one from the list that I'm now reading.

🛠️ Project Updates
As we approach the middle of the year, it is good to look back and check progress and evolution vs plan and expectations. So it is that I share with you several such recent reviews. What are you doing?
Open source, Linux Self Hosting
For years I have been recommending and practising steps to get out of Big Tech. Steps that I have taken include:
- getting photos out of Google into self-hosted Immich
- getting email out of gMail into alternatives like ProtonMail and Fastmail
- using Linux laptop as daily driver -MacOS is not great, Windoze must be avoided at all costs
Well, Foci (a Scandinavian student and researcher) has taken things to the next level. He really has embraced the change and you will be amazed at what he has managed to do in the last 6 months.

He certainly gives inspiration for what you can do and I will be trying some of these possibilities going forward - how about you?
I am really pleased with my Immich migration. I now have easy access to all my photos - over 500,000 of them and they are no longer accessible to Google. I have a couple of full instances running locally in different locations and one that has only recent years (and select albums) running in the cloud.
With email it is impractical to host an email server yourself - you really have to use a hosting service of some sort. There are secure options that do not scan your mail and you will benefit from getting out of Google. Take your time, go step by step and ensure that you have a complete and stable system for several months before deleting gMail.
For both Photos and gMail you should always keep your Google Takeout file(s). In doing so you always have a backup of what Google had before you deleted it.
Avoiding Google search is the next step
Google has now revealed what it believes search is actually for—and "it's not for your benefit." Henry argues that Google's shift toward AI agents performing searches on users' behalf represents a fundamental change in whose interests search serves. You ought to be really concerned at how Google is effectively stealing and abusing all your private data.

There are genuine alternatives with completely different business models and switching is easier than most people assume. My recommendation is Kagi - as we have discussed before it is excellent and keeps getting better. I also learned about a couple of useful and complementary search services you can use instead or in addition.
And then they fight you...
Monero is the only genuinely private digital money. As such, the Empire clearly does not approve of it, preferring to keep you subservient in its permanently devaluing national currencies. Listen to this fascinating discussion with Cryptocomicon and you will understand why it may well be one of the most interesting safe havens going forward for wealth preservation through the reset.
First they ignore you, then they laugh at you, then they fight you, then you win.
~ Mahatma Gandhi

We are clearly in the "then they fight you" stage
In recent weeks there have been three significant attacks on Monero network and infrastructure - all now resolved. See headlines below - these are not unrelated.
- The Bisq system suffered an attack on May 1, 2026 that resulted in the theft of Bitcoin from a handful of users. The main trading pair on Bisq is Bitcoin-Monero.
- On May 15, 2026, THORChain suffered an exploit resulting in the theft across multiple blockchain networks. This occurred just after THORChain demonstrated their (soon to be launched) native Monero integration that will make Monero easier to obtain.
- In mid-May 2026, an exploit in the Haveno TradeProtocol allowed attackers to impersonate arbitrators and steal Monero from some RetoSwap users. RetoSwap is a decentralized, peer-to-peer exchange focused on trading Monero for fiat currencies (like USD and EUR).
All of these are decentralised services that the Empire does not and cannot control, so they attack them. This is all part of the agenda to discredit hard money ownership in favour of controllable bank deposits and other confiscatable assets. Be in no doubt, this is the plan.

Cognitive dissidents
Like many you are probably fed up with the nonsense on the news and other mainstream propaganda sources. You will feel much better once you disconnect from those things. Instead, I do enjoy listening to the occasional podcasts from Hrvoje, Mike and Monica in which they apply their journalistic and research experience to what is happening and give some sensible interpretation and overview.

Click for summary and to listen to the podcast
Once you listen to this or read the summary you will quickly realise that you gain nothing by being connected to the raw, real-time feed of fear-porn from mainstream and you can be better informed about what has happened of significance and what is surely coming through periodic items like this. If you have other sources to recommend, do say.
Milei's scam - by the numbers
You might recall my scepticism about Javier Milei when he exploded on the scene. Well the truth is now evident - it was all one big lie and deception. Javier Milei has failed to implement any Austrian economic policies in Argentina, breaking his primary campaign promises. He failed to close the central bank and he abandoned full dollarisation - Argentines are now worse off than they were before.

Click for summary and more - also Guy reads the article here
Worse still, the presidency of Javier Milei is causing long-term reputational damage to the Austrian school of economics by associating the ideology with inflation and state-led indebtedness.
🤔 Closing Thoughts
This week I think it is useful to take a deeper look at what will surely be a significant part of the Empire's Great Reset agenda.
First up listen to this fact-based discussion with Hakeem Anwar. It seems to be a US-only story and this should certainly make you think. Thousands (!) of data centers are now suddenly being built all over the USA, against the wishes of local populations and drawing trillions of dollars of fake investment/money.

Be in no doubt - this is one of the next crises being assembled right in front of you. It will have global impact, no matter what you think.

Then go deeper into Wayne McRoy's analysis, based on decades of research and reading on the background to all of this. He argues that the rapid expansion of AI data centers is a strategic infrastructure project for a future 'globalist control grid' rather than for current computing needs.

- The COVID-19 plandemic was an engineered event designed to restructure medical systems to support a centralized, data-driven surveillance state.
- The construction of data centers is a mechanism for a 'controlled collapse' of the current economy, intended to usher in Universal Basic Income, programmable digital currencies, and social credit systems.
The conclusion is clear - these are being pushed on a dramatic scale that is unjustified by any rational argument and in the face of widespread local opposition. To me it feels like the "dot com" event in which ridiculously vast amounts of internet connectivity were installed, only for most of the companies to go bankrupt in the crash, allowing consolidation of the assets by the Empire.
After that happens that these data centers will be used to attack (or maybe defend!) Bitcoin and the other proof-of-work currencies - either way it would seem sensible to have some.
It might make sense just to get some in case it catches on. If enough people think the same way, that becomes a self fulfilling prophecy.
